Scribe Scripture Editor

Scribe is an open-source Bible translation editor owned by and built for the community that uses it. It is there for the practical problems teams meet in the field: drafting, checking, recording, and sharing Scripture without a heavy toolchain.

Work happens in modes. The text editor gives a simple writing experience for USFM. Audio mode supports oral Bible translation, including recording that has already carried projects through multiple drafts. OBS mode is a direct way to translate Open Bible Stories. Video mode supports Sign Language Translation, so deaf-community Scripture projects can record and refine signed content in the same editor.

Scribe runs as a desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and in the browser so a project can start from anywhere. The interface is localized into Hindi, Nepali, French, and Russian, with numerical support for Farsi. Projects can back up and sync in the cloud, and Scripture Burrito keeps the work portable — no lock-in to a single program.
